Thaddeus Strode

In Thaddeus’ Strode’s work, elements of music, text, and contemporary culture collide.

Since the late 1980s Strode has been creating wild, vibrantly coloured mash-ups, primarily in large-scale paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, and mixed media. His work represents a provocative strain within contemporary art – one that expresses a strong penchant for dark humor and the absurd. Strode draws freely on the youth culture in which he came of age – comic books, adventure stories, horror films – as well as the culture and clichés of the southern California lifestyle.

Thaddeus Strode, born 1964 in Santa Monica, California, lives and works in Los Angeles, California. He has been collaborating with BORCH Editions since 2013.
