Thomas Zipp is known for creating dark, dense environments, often with a decidedly performative aspect to them.
Zipp works in a wide range of various media, ranging from painting and drawing to sculpture and installation. His works convey an uncanny, at times morbid atmosphere. Their sinister and ominous character renders the viewer with the feeling of threatening inauspiciousness. Zipp’s work is full of historical, psychological and religious references, often reaching deep into the unconscious in search of the unfamiliar and undecoded.
Thomas Zipp, born 1966 in Heppenheim, Germany, lives and works in Berlin. He has been collaborating with BORCH Editions since 2017.
