Olafur Eliasson engages the viewer’s senses, employing elemental materials such as light, water, air or temperature.
The human body’s experiences and the mind’s perceptions are central to the works of the Olafur Eliasson’s work. He explores the sensory being’s presence and movement through architecture, urban environments and nature in such a way as to unfold the viewer’s own experiences rather than offering a predefined notion.
Eliasson’s smaller scale works focus specifically on certain phenomena: surfaces, color codes, light, frost, or reflections. Eliasson’s prints are fundamental elementary investigations into the human senses that then shape his vast installations.
Olafur Eliasson, born 1967 in Copenhagen, Denmark, lives and works in Berlin, Germany. He has been collaborating with BORCH Gallery & Editions since 1995.
