Etchings

Emma Kohlmann approached her series of six etching by experimenting with several printing techniques before ultimately picking the ones she found best served her motives, often combining several techniques in one print. Sugar lift aquatint in particular is a technique that allows Kohlmann to work with a brush and acid, in a similar manner to her painting practice. Printmaking is a collaborative process in which the artist’s creative impulse meets the master printer’s technical skill and expertise.
