Knud Odde | New graphic works
BORCHs Butik are thrilled to present our latest collaboration with Knud Odde.
Knud Odde first collaborated with Niels Borch Jensen Editions 30 years ago. His latest visit to our Copenhagen print shop resulted in 21 new original prints, for which the artist experimented with a variety of printing techniques, among them woodcut, aquatint and chine-collé.
Odde’s motifs range from landscape to portrait. His cast of characters ranges from fictional to historical characters from the realms of art, film, music, and literature. In a series of nine woodcuts he depicts black-and-white personages against monochrome backgrounds. A large-scale portrait of Pina Bausch is executed in a composition of woodcut, soft ground etching, spit bite aquatint, and open bite. For his other portraits, as well as for a dyptich depicting two landcapes, Odde chose a more intimate format.
Knud Odde, born in Denmark in 1955, is a painter and graphic artist. His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions since 1982 and is featured in major public collections, among them Moderna Museet, Stockholm; AROS, Aarhus; Esbjerg Kunstmuseum, Esbjerg; HEART Herning Museum of Contemporary Art; Kastrupgaardsamlingen, Copenhagen; and Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen. Knud Odde has been collaborating with Niels Borch Jensen Editions since 1986.
