Airblaster
For Airblaster Martin Kippenberger combined found magazine-cover images of spectacularly failed rocket launches, so called airblasters, with black-and-white photographs of sickbeds he took at the Medical Museion in Copenhagen. Despite the darkness of the content, the sheer beauty of the explosions and the way the sickbeds slowly seem to rise towards heaven from one image to the next, gives the series a strange sense of optimism.
