The photogravure series The Clock is based on an action performed in A K Dolven’s studio, during which a large plastic clock was thrown around the space. Four polaroid pictures taken during this action were then enlarged and transferred onto photogravure plates. Hung in sequence, the four images trace the trajectory of the flying object which, alienated it from its original purpose, counters the existential themes of time and transience with lighthearted fun: in play, time literally flies.
