Outer space seems not so unfamiliar

Thomas Saraceno photogravure Outer space seems not so unfamiliar, is executed on Japanese paper. Spiders self-sufficiently create the environments they inhabit, which makes them perfect study objects for Saraceno, who has long been exploring the possibility of floating architectures as alternative living spaces for human beings in his large-scale installations. Much like the Japanese paper the spiders are depicted on, their translucent webs appear delicate and fragile, while actually being very robust, flexible structures.
