IMUUR2
In 2013, Danh Vo presented his large-scale installation IMUUR2 in New York’s Salomon R. Guggenheim museum. The installation comprised an extensive collection of objects gathered by Chinese- American painter Martin Wong; shelves filled with tourist souvenirs, rare antique ceramics, scrolls of calligraphy as well as an abundance of Americana and sentimental keepsakes. Connected by the mutual passion for collecting objects and examining their histories, Vo initiated a creative exchange between two artists that transcends space and time. The image Danh Vo transferred into a photogravure testifies to both artists’ explorations of ethnic and sexual identities.
