Robert McNally | Photogravure

With his elaborate drawing skills, Robert McNally creates dense, multi-layered visual universes. For his first collaboration with BORCH Editions, he created three photogravures.
2016 Ännus Horribilis is based on a complex, technically demanding drawing executed on translucent mylar, which took McNally several years to complete. It is a physical manifestation of an online message board, an arena where people find useable information within a lot of noise, and where clear messages and facts diminish. Transcribed threads, concrete historical references, and completely irrelevant items are fused into a vaguely recognizable construct.
Robert McNally, born 1982 in Gateshead, UK, lives and works in Berlin.
