Jean-Michel Basquiat through Nicholas Taylor

The first exhibition at BORCHs Butik presents the photogravure project Jean-Michel Basquiat through Nicholas Taylor.

While Nicholas Taylor has been recognized for his work as a musician, he has also been an active photographer, although he kept this work in his personal archives until 2004.

In 1977, Taylor met Jean-Michel Basquiat, two years later he joined Basquiat’s band Gray as guitarist. Basquiat named Taylor ‘DJ High Priest’ for a collaboration they did at the Squat Theater in New York City, and it was this name under which Taylor has gained recognition for his work as a musician.

Nicholas Taylor, born 1953 in Belleville, Illinois, lives and works in New York City. He has been collaborating with BORCH Editions since 2014.
